CARING FOR YOUR HIBERNIA CARPET

With proper care your Hibernia carpet will give you many years of enjoyment and comfort. Wool carpet is like many other natural products, which become more beautiful with age and use. Proper vacuuming with a good adjustable upright vacuum on a regular basis is essential. You need to make sure you set your vacuum so that the brushes barely touch the face of the carpet. Wool carpet will shed immediately after installation. This is normal and the shedding will dissipate within a short period of time with proper vacuuming. Your vacuum cleaner dust bag should be emptied when half full. Your vacuum will remove foot borne dry soil. For accidents and spills that occur please refer to our information chart for cleaning your Hibernia wool carpet.

The natural attributes of Hibernia wool help keep your carpets looking good for longer:

  • The naturally scaly surface of wool makes it naturally resistant to soiling. Soil will be held high in the carpet pile where it can be easily removed by vacuuming.
  • Wool has natural elasticity so it stands up to everyday wear and tear and resists unsightly crushing from furniture.
  • Wool has a natural protective outer layer that prevents water-based spills from penetrating into the fiber.

Combined with an effective maintenance plan, these natural attributes make it easy to look after your Hibernia carpet or rug.

All you have to do is follow the three simple steps set out below:

VACUUMING

When it comes to keeping your carpet looking good and hygienically clean, you can never vacuum too often. As a rule, vacuum at least once a week, more often in heavy traffic areas. Be thorough when you vacuum under furniture, behind curtains and where your carpet meets the wall.

QUICK TIPS:

  • Be sure your vacuum cleaner is suitable for your type of carpet. Follow the advice of the carpet manufacturer or your retailer.
  • If your vacuum has a bag, empty it regularly to ensure the vacuum doesn't lose suction.
  • DO NOT use a self-adjusting vacuum since they adjust too deeply into the pile and will cause excessive fuzzing.
  • DO NOT use an overly stiff brush on the beater bar since this too will cause excessive fuzzing.
  • DO NOT use any vacuum made by Oreck or Dyson as these will cause excessive fuzzing.
  • No claims will be accepted when an Oreck or Dyson vacuum is used.
  • It is important to remember to move the vacuum cleaner slowly to allow time to remove soil, and above all, make sure that the dust bag is never more than half full. Remember you cannot over vacuum, and vacuuming should begin the day the carpet is installed.

CLEAN SPILLS IMMEDIATELY

Stains can be prevented easily by ACTING QUICKLY when spills occur. Even when time is not on your side, follow this simple removal process, use the correct cleaning agent, and you'll be delighted with the difference you can make.
